 [1] Welcome!

So you've just been accepted to join the final fantasy roleplaying crew? Heh.. Well there is a lot you need to be informed about.

Why you ask?

First of all, this is a highly organized roleplay forum with emphasis on creativity and quality writing and storytelling!!! And all of this is occuring on one massive board web containing four large subforums for the worlds of FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, and FFX. If there is no order and clarity to the way we do things here - chaos will sink us down to the days of:

"*Slaps his face* "muahhaha" *Sits in corner* ::cries:: *pokes* Wait are we roleplaying yet?"

That sucks. So get ready to read and continue on to [2] of the tutorial. But first, be sure that you are familiar with the main set of rules. If you have a firm handle of them you are in good shape because they touch on a lot of aspects discussed in the tutorial.

RPG Rules

[1]. Stay in Character in the RPG. OOC (Out Of Character)dialogue is allowed in the rpg boards IF necessary. They must be enclosed in double parentheses (( )) at the beginning or the end of the post. Staying in character also means you don't roleplay Lulu as a upbeat and crazy girl; you don't roleplay Sephiroth as weak and feminine. -_-;;;; Please save those sort of attitudes for 'void' roleplays (read more about it in the tutorial).

Please remember that if you have been accepted to play more than one ff character (ex: Cloud Strife & Lulu), you must create seperate accounts for each of them and use them accordingly. In other words each member account here should be dedicated to ONE character, and you should not roleplay as both Cloud and Lulu using your Cloud username (This may seem brutally obvious, but realize, some people don't know this). You'll need to sign in and sign out if you plan to roleplay both characters. If you feel that this is too much of a hassel, stick to playing only one character :).

There will be some exceptions to this rule. (ex. Rinoa+Angelo, Tifa+Marlene, Fujin+Rajin, Yuna+Aeons, etc).

[2]. Do not double or triple post (etc.) in the rpg boards unless necessary. This means, you may double/triple post if there hasn't been activity in the current thread for at least two days or so. Double posting within a few minutes or even seconds is NOT allowed. The only exception to this is on spam-related threads. Or in rp threads where one person chooses to rp alone (which can happen!)

[3]. Asteriks (*) are NOT allowed to show your characters actions on the rp boards. You may use them on the OOC (Out Of Character) boards, but not in the rpg boards. While rping - you should write it like a narrated story. For example. I might write in a post:

Quote:
The flames danced around her in a fiery rage as she struck a pose. "Take that!"(etc)

In short, its simple narration. The only exception to the no astericks rule is located in the tutorial "leaving a thread"

[4]. Avatar must be of the character you rp as and signatures are allowed - But they have to be fairly small. Your display name must be your character's name.

[5]. Be an active member! I dont mean spend your every waking hours here but try to be on regularly. (leaves or absences should be announced in the ooc chats as a courtesy). Unannounced, extended absences can result in losing your roles or permenent banishment from the forums.

[6]. If you have been accepted to take the role of a ff character - your username color will be changed to correspond to the world you are part of. This username color is not the same thing as the rp color code. The rp color code is used when you type your rp responses. I strongly encourage you to choose a color code that can be unique to your character (suggestions are located in the register boards and a list of color codes is listed in the tutorial). Just use the color tags:

Code:
[color=Red]Text[/color]

Instead of Red, type in your color code given (i.e FF6699).

[7]. Use the Modify button!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you realize you made a mistake after posting, don't fret, b/c it can be easily fixed using the modify option. I hate it when people make tons of mistakes and don't bother to fix it >:( Also be aware that the boards have a helpful spell check ability!

[8]. Follow the basic storyline. Don't force the story to focus on only your character. If you play your part you will most likely get a chance to shine. On the flip side, don't be shy to show that you can really get into the character and make a great story! Don't supress your creativity. If you have good ideas - voice them out, make them happen!

[9]. Control only YOUR character. Do not narrate actions of other characters (with the exception of NPC's) in your posts. You are encouraged to rp as NPC's when ever necessary. This is why a unique color code is favorable. B/c when you rp as NPC's they should be done in the default color.

[10]. Try not to be unblockable or invincible during rp battles/conflicts.

a.) Offense/unblockable: When ever you roleplay a fight or physical type of conflict with another roleplayer(s) - make sure you give the opposing character(s) room or leeway to have a choice or option of what to do next (as in a chance to defend or evade the attack). For example, if you are fighting with a bow and arrow.. you definetly shouldn't say: He aims his bow and shoots Cloud - killing him upon impact. ..No -_-. Instead take your time. In your first post prepare to fight.. get into stance or something. NEVER say that you kill the character. Anything drastic should be discussed before hand with the other roleplayer. For example: If Tseng wants to kidnap Aeris - the roleplayers should contact each other and see if they agree.

b.) Defense/Invincible: The other side of this is evading, too much thus making your character invincible. Once in a while you might want to actually take one of those blows.. or show signs of fatigue or perhaps retreat for a moment. Most Final Fantasy characters do have certain weaknesses. Just think how your character would act, and you should be fine.

[11]. Each roleplay post must be 2 paragraphs at least. Not two sentences, but two quality paragraphs. If you dont think that is possible, take these tips into consideration: Provide detail on the setting, the character, character idiosyncracies, move the plot foward, create conflict, create some sort of action.. etc.

[12]. Be nice. Don't flame, throw fits or tantrums. Its an rpg. Its suppose to be fun... :D. And listen to the admins, please. They've earned the postion and so I trust that they will do the right thing. If you suspect power abuse by any staff member - you should alert someone asap :).
